NORTHFIELD, MN—The Carleton Political Science department waited a week to send an email addressing the George Floyd killing, deciding to withhold their opinion for the first time in recent memory.

The Department also sent a second email to address recipients who were disappointed by the delay: “This kind of subject matter isn’t really our wheelhouse, so we let another department like Geology or Russian take a crack at a good announcement first.”
