NORTHFIELD, MN – Citing the impending renovations to Scoville Hall, Director of Facilities Stephen Spehn said that the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) and Office of Intercultural and International Life (OIIL) will be relocated to St. Olaf, a local Lutheran enclave located across the Cannon.

“We’ve been hoping to make ties with the Olafians for a long while now, and this is really the best way to do it,” Spehn said.

Dean of Students Dr. Carolyn Livingston echoed the statement. “Two open-minded organizations like the GSC and OIIL are perfect gateways to understanding the Lutheran orthodoxy of the Olaf community,” Livingston said.

“Plus,” Livingston added hurriedly, “The Olafians will bring some much-needed diversity to the Carleton community.”

When asked about the difficulties Carleton students might face when trying to reach the GSC and OIIL offices, Spehn replied that “The GSC and OIIL are both valuable parts of the Carleton community, but there really was no other place to put them. We’re doing the best we can.”
