NORTHFIELD, MN — Carleton student Ralph Widabaker was chosen as the CSA Squirrel Liaison for the 2016-2017 school year.
“I think it was my experience with small mammals, particularly Nearctic Sciurids, that set me apart from the competition,” Widabaker said.
Widabaker is the only student documented by the college to be living in the Arb, occasionally poking his head out of a hollow Bur Oak to greet visitors. Any students with further questions about Carleton’s efforts to integrate squirrels into the campus community can crack five nuts and say the scientific name of the Eastern Gray Squirrel, and he will appear.
